Alexus + Weston

This wedding was the reason Pinterest was invented. From the surprise engagement in Norway, to the bachelorette party in Tahoe, this event was Vogue worthy from the minute planning had begun.

Alexus was chasing the northern lights and frolicking with reindeer in Tromsø, Norway when her beau to be Weston showed up unexpectedly to pop the question. That set the stage for every surprise and detail that would be implemented into each wedding celebration.

Each piece was chosen with Alexus and Weston’s exact tastes in mind, and it was as if the vendor dream team was handpicked by the wedding gods themselves. The gorgeous wedding suite and flat lays included a leather-bound vow book alongside the braided leather leash for Brevis the floof master. The bride’s floral adorned Lack of Color Aus Ivory Rancher Hat accompanied multiple pairs of snakeskin Dolce Vita mules. Everything was framed with the flower girls’ dried petals they would be tossing for the ceremony, made from bouquets, single stems and blooms Weston had given to Alexus over the years, all the way back to high school.

The Double K Estates Michigan mountain wedding venue backed up to rows of pines with a river running behind the couple as they said their vows, with wooden pews from Eden Woods Rentals as the picturesque frame. Weston and his groomsmen were woodland dapper with light camo patterns on their suits, and feathered mallard bow ties and boutonnieres. A perfect example of both couple’s personalities shining through while coming cohesively together as one.

The couple’s family horses joined them during their first look while Brevis their newfoundland walked them back to the house. Before cocktail hour, we snuck another surprise around the side of the house while Weston was preoccupied with pictures. Needless to say, the look on his face when he was face to face with Michigan State Sparty did not disappoint.

Bracken and Broom’s flowers filled the space during cocktail hour, where there were also fresh cut carrots for the guests to feed the horses milling nearby. The tables at the reception, hand made by the bride’s family, were labeled with places the couple had been, Germany, Finland and Morocco to name a few.

The ladies wore mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses in earthy hues, and matching jackets for when the mountain weather turned cool. The boys brought their custom steins to the handmade bar with The Squires insignia on the front. The guests had finger lickin’ BBQ from Pigs Eatin’ Ribs Food Truck before DJ James Jackson spun tunes until the wee hours of the morning.

This wedding aesthetic was in a league of its own and had so much intention and thought behind each detail, and how it would all come together. We made so many little moving parts fit together so perfectly, making this wedding one we won’t soon forget! We’re so excited to see this pampas grass feathered dream featured on Junebug Weddings where you can see even more details!
